Spring College Fair for Juniors

Wyalusing Valley High School is hosting a Post-Secondary Education Information Evening on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 from 6:30-8:00 pm.

PA Association for College Admission Counseling Northeast College Fair will be at the Woodlands Inn and Resort, Wilkes-Barre on April 26, 2010 9:00am to 12:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. To access a list of colleges attending visit online at www.pacac.org.

Camp Cadet Applications Available in the Guidance Office

Pennsylvania State Police-Troop-R will be sponsoring their annual Camp Cadet program this summer from July 18-23, 2010 at Marywood University, Scranton, PA. Students must be between the ages 13-15. This program provides the opportunity for students to experience the various facets of the law enforcement community. The camp is provided free of charge based on public donations & fundraisers. Applications for this program are available in the guidance office and must be received by April 15, 2010.

KFC Colonel's Scholars Program: $5000.00 per year for tuition, fees, books, and room and board to a graduating senior who maintains a minimum high school cumulative GPA of 2.75 enrolling in a college or university pursuing a bachelor's degree. Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarships: High school seniors who planning careers of service to the United States in local, state, or federal government. Entrants receiving full four-year scholarships shall be eligible only for one-year special awards. Awards for those entering Armed Forces Colleges are eligible for one-year special awards. Application online at www.gwcf.org. Must be RECEIVED BY January 15, 2010

NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation Scholarship: High school senior entering an accredited, nonprofit two- or fouryear college or vocational/technical institute for the full 2010-2011 academic year should demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative, such as:
o starting his or her own business;
o participation in organizations such as DECA, Future Business Leaders of America(FBLA), Junior Achievement and The National Foundation for Teaching
Entrepreneurship, among others; or
o through other initiatives
Note: You should consider any endeavors or work experience you have offered as a community service. For example: babysitting, lawn care, dog walking, tutoring, etc. An officially established business is not a requirement. Apply online at www.NFIB.com/yea. Deadline is December 31, 2009
